GEIR General Annual Meeting – March 2025

On 26 March, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) took place in Brussels. Daniele Ape, Policy Officer at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Environment (DG Environment) – From Waste to Resources, responsible for waste oils, also participated and provided an update on the regulatory landscape concerning waste oil and reporting obligations. GEIR members also took the opportunity to introduce themselves, present their activities, and discuss the re-refining industry in Europe.

The agenda also included discussions on the future of circularity in Europe, the sector’s contribution to the European Commission’s new mandate and priorities, and the importance of supporting a strong and clear regulatory framework for the re-refining industry.

In addition, Miltos Bantis, President of GEIR, shared outcomes from his meetings held the previous day, which included exchanges with team members from the Cabinet of Commissioner Roswall and MEP Jeannette Baljeu (Renew Europe), both of whom are closely involved in shaping EU policies on the circular economy.

The next GEIR Annual General Meeting will take place in Leipzig on 10–11 September 2025, kindly hosted by Puraglobe.
